Feeling the Christmas Spirit...mostly!

Charlie is very excited about Christmas.  He drug up all the decorations from the basement and made sure we got everything up.  He loves wearing his Santa suit.
He decided his dog needed a hat too.  So he cut up a big hat and sewed her one.  Math problems...no they didn't get done...but hat sewing...complete!

All the preps were to be sure we were ready for his Christmas movie marathon, here are his buddies that came to enjoy Home Alone and a few other classics with him.

I was excited to have my buddies here too, my friends from college stopped in for a night on their European tour..we were able to sneak out with them for a little Brussels beer tour.  Great to see Laura & Brian and crazy how much time has passed since we were all together!
Heading into the one pub that I think looks like a church inside.
Greg's favorite pub, I have to figure out how to buy him one of the cool old posters!

Brian really wanted some late night frites, to get to the only place still open  we happened to cut through the Grand Place while they were testing out the lights for the Christmas light show...here were some of the buildings lit up-beautiful.  They also had the big tree up in the center and the manger.
Although we have lots of Christmas spirit some in Brussels do not...in case of you read about the yellow jacket protesters rioting in Brussels...we watched all the craziness from a safe spot.  High fuel prices will never make it ok to burn police vans in my book...here is a picture of the aftermath.
(I sometimes pick up a few groceries in the express store in the background)

Here are random bricks that were all loose from protesters looking for things to throw and also from the water cannons used to disperse them.  This is right by the metro stop we use downtown.  The cars are all at a standstill in the background because the protesters are standing in front of them.

We are glad that it all ended and hopefully things can return to normal!

Bring on the Christmas Markets!
